Larry Kart Posted July 6, 2016 Report Posted July 6, 2016 Anyone know of this singer? Picked up today a recent duo album "Varuna" by her and Richie Bierach, whom I’ve warmed to a good deal in recent years. I particularly like Antonioli’s somewhat husky Irene Kral-like timbre in the lower register. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A490j7sSrSA What a fine lyricist Howard Dietz was. My haunted heart; Ghost of you My lost romance. Lips that laugh, Eyes that dance. Haunted heart Won’t let me be, Dreams repeat a sweet But lonely song to me. Dreams are dust, It’s you who must Belong to me And thrill My haunted heart. Be still, My haunted heart. In the night, Though we’re apart, Dreams repeat a sweet but lonely song to me Dreams are dust, It’s you who must Belong to me And thrill My haunted heart. Be still, My haunted heart. The genius part probably is the internal rhymes plus semi-enjambment of "Dreams repeat a sweet/But lonely song to me . . .” and its its extension-modified echo in "Dreams are dust,/It's you who must/Belong to me . . . " https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BQJdKNlYTBY (words by L.A., music by R.B.) Quote
soulpope Posted July 7, 2016 Report Posted July 7, 2016 Don`t know the recording you are refering to, but once heard excepts of this one : The vast part of the music was written by Austrian Pianist Fritz Pauer .... Quote
HutchFan Posted July 7, 2016 Report Posted July 7, 2016 (edited) So far, I've only listened to Antonioli's new record with Richie Beirach a few times -- but I've really enjoyed it. I'm much more familiar with their earlier record, The Duo Session (Nabel), from 2004. Beautiful music. Edited July 7, 2016 by HutchFan Quote
