king ubu Posted May 17, 2016 Report Posted May 17, 2016 Same here, office computer, hit the button once ... board still misbehaves (was inaccessible for most of the morning over here - guess they ran some stuff during the night). But indeed, quite a story there! Another chapter is his guest stint (along with Monk Montgomery, Marshal Royal, Rudolph Johnson) in South Africa ... here's the backcover of an LP they made: Same here, office computer, hit the button once ... board still misbehaves (was inaccessible for most of the morning over here - guess they ran some stuff during the night). JSngry Posted May 17, 2016 Report Posted May 17, 2016 Never new about that PI record, need to hunt it down. It kinda fleshes out the notion that Thad & Mel also did a thing for the label. Wonder what else there was? RIP to one of the more delightfully boisterous voices of Ellingtonia Never new about that PI record, need to hunt it down. Justin V Posted May 17, 2016 Report Posted May 17, 2016 (edited) I thought about Buster Cooper and his long-running St. Petersburg gig when I made a trip to Orlando last month, although we were there during the week (it was a Saturday gig, if I remember correctly) and his last gig apparently was in February. I recommend E-Bone-ix, the album he co-led with the late Thurman Green. Buster Cooper must have had some stories to tell. Thank you for the music, Mr. Cooper, and rest in peace.
