Here's some photos of the interior - https://www.blogto.com/film/2019/12/paradise-theatre-toronto/ It's definitely a bit pricey for a second-run theatre (basically full price tickets), but I'll try to go from time to time, since the owners deserve some major plaudits for bringing this place back from the dead. Wow! Thanks. Quote
kinuta Posted December 24, 2019 Report Posted December 24, 2019 The Two Popes - Fernando Meirelles (2019) Two great perfomances. I thought it was really good. Quote

Doesn't anyone remember, in this puzzle mystery/joust vein, "Sleuth" or "The Last of Sheila" or the "Sleuth" semi-offshoot with Michael Caine and Christopher Reeve? Quote

I saw the Broadway play (by Ira Levin) c. 1980 and enjoyed it, but didn't see the later film. Doubt I'll watch Knives Out, either. Quote
Matthew Posted December 30, 2019 Report Posted December 30, 2019 The Passion of Joan of Arc. I'm surprised at how intense and moving the film is, a must watch again movie. Quote
medjuck Posted December 30, 2019 Report Posted December 30, 2019 More than 50 years ago I saw this in Copenhagen with Dreyer present to introduce it. Quote
ejp626 Posted December 30, 2019 Report Posted December 30, 2019 Saw The Rise of Skywalker with my son today. Fewer outright howlers than in The Last Jedi. It was an acceptable end to the third trilogy. Quote

ejp626 Posted January 2, 2020 Report Posted January 2, 2020 Saw Scorsese's Bringing Out the Dead at TIFF Lightbox tonight. I don't think I've seen it since the original release in 1999. I enjoyed it, though there are plenty of over-the-top moments (and not all are attributed to Nicholas Cage). I did not realize until I saw the closing credits that the voice of one of the dispatchers was Scorese himself, while the one who banters with Ving Rhames was Queen Latifah! Quote
medjuck Posted January 3, 2020 Report Posted January 3, 2020 Dolomite is My Name... which I loved and which features the Bihari Brothers as well as The Dunbar Hotel. Quote
