Yes, all those, and yet, still loads of fun. Especially Daniel Craig, who seemed to be enjoying himself immensely. gregmo Quote
BillF Posted November 20, 2017 Report Posted November 20, 2017 Saw this yesterday as part of a European Political Thrillers of the 1970s programme. Excellent. Quote

kinuta Posted November 21, 2017 Report Posted November 21, 2017 American Assassin - Michael Cuesta (2017) Run of the mill white hats vs black hats shoot 'em full of holes stuff. Starts as highly implausible and you can guess where it goes from there. Instantly forgettable. Quote
GA Russell Posted November 22, 2017 Report Posted November 22, 2017 I have never seen a Fast & Furious movie. Are any of them any good? I enjoy car chases as much as everyone else, but is there anything more to any of these? Thanks! Quote

Seen parts of later ones and they look silly but many people I know really like them. Quote
GA Russell Posted November 22, 2017 Report Posted November 22, 2017 Thanks Joe. Many are on sale right now. Quote
BillF Posted November 22, 2017 Report Posted November 22, 2017 Saw this this afternoon and found it less impressive than this review had led me to expect: https://www.theguardian.com/film/2017/nov/02/thelma-review-joachim-trier-telekenetic-lesbian-psychological-drama Quote
kinuta Posted November 22, 2017 Report Posted November 22, 2017 Crooked House - Gilles Paquet-Brenner (2017) Flat, looked and felt liked a tv movie. Not a patch on the last two BBC adaptations, namely, Witness For The Prosecution & And Then There Were None. Both were great. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt5834256/ http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3581932/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1 Quote
kinuta Posted November 26, 2017 Report Posted November 26, 2017 Mudbound - Dee Rees (2017) Earnest but a long dismal slog with just one moment of brightness. The mud and rain are a perfect metaphor for the film. Quote
jlhoots Posted November 26, 2017 Report Posted November 26, 2017 Mudbound has had great reviews. Don't do Netflix, so will wait until it shows up in a real theater & see for myself. Going to see Three Billboards today. Quote

Three Billboards sounds good. Quote
kinuta Posted November 27, 2017 Report Posted November 27, 2017 Borg McEnroe - Janus Metz Pedersen (2017) Pretty good, it had it's moments. Above average sports film that builds to the epic first Wimbledon final. Quote
kinuta Posted November 30, 2017 Report Posted November 30, 2017 Detroit - Kathryn Bigelow (2017) Wrenching, powerhouse film making. Oddly, I've been listening to The Dramatics quite a lot recently. Quote
kinuta Posted December 2, 2017 Report Posted December 2, 2017 The Foreigner -Martin Campbell (2017) Jackie Chan does Liam Neeson, not. Although the great man is billed as the main attraction, the film is actually a smart, well done political thriller 'with' or 'and ' JC. I enjoyed it a lot. The action parts are convincing ala Jason Bourne and Pierce Brosnan is an excellent evil doer. Exceeded expectations. Quote
kinuta Posted December 4, 2017 Report Posted December 4, 2017 Kissing Jessica Stein - Charles Herman Wurmfeld (2001) Quote
kinuta Posted December 4, 2017 Report Posted December 4, 2017 Hell Or High Water - Taylor Sheridan (2016) Actually better on the second viewing. Quote
kinuta Posted December 5, 2017 Report Posted December 5, 2017 Dunkirk - Christopher Nolan (2017) Dazzling, breathtaking film that grips like a vice from first frame to last. With a bare minimum of dialogue , the film is propelled by truly amazing cinematography and editing with subtle use of idiosyncratic non linear cutting. For me this elevates Nolan to the ranks of David Lean and Alfred Hitchcock. Quote
BillF Posted December 5, 2017 Report Posted December 5, 2017 Unpleasant subject matter. Superb film. Quote

kinuta Posted December 6, 2017 Report Posted December 6, 2017 Mother ! - Darren Aronofsky (2017) Nice Jennifer Lawrence drops a mega dose of bad acid. That's all you need to know. Intreresting but seriously deranged. Quote
