Metheny Haden DeJohnette Montreal '89

Is this a legitimate release? One review I read described the liner notes as pretty shoddy, and unrelated to the concert. All of the other Haden Montreal concerts were released on Verve and ECM.

I wager it's not legit. The sound is darn excellent though, only a little tape hiss in quieter parts and radio announcements. It's from Canadian radio broadcast.

I could be wrong, but I think ALL those Haden releases from the Montreal Jazz Festival are sourced from CBC tapings.  It's just that they weren't all commercially available, but were broadcast.  The source of this (probably bootleg) could very well be someone's air check recording.  That would account for any extraneous hiss.

Don't bother. This recording is not legit, I have a copy of this from Dime, and it is a radio recording

Yup. And that's why this one has made the rounds, in spite of it not having ever been released ... the design of the disc looks most fishy. Too bad, would have been great to see the Montréal Series completed, after all!
