Man with the Golden Arm Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 Having rekindled a recent Barney Wilen, Jazz in Paris etc... jones courtesy of this board I am curious as to what this title might be like. I have only heard a spit of Shepp and have been exposed only to his more outward bounding work. Any rec here?? Quote
couw Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 getting it for the cover are you? Can't help here, never heard it. It seems available only as a (very) expensive japanese import... Quote
Man with the Golden Arm Posted February 26, 2004 Author Report Posted February 26, 2004 You found me out! Who cares about Archie Shepp anyway! :rsly: Quote
jazzbo Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 I believe that I have an early version of this, with a different cover, and I love it! This and a companion or two are some of the best of the most recent Shepps I've heard. Quote
jlhoots Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 The Shepp Venus CDs are all excellent IMHO. Try Cadence - $20 each, $19 if you're a subscriber. Quote
.:.impossible Posted February 16, 2012 Report Posted February 16, 2012 Not entirely related rogue thread at hand, but I thought y'all would get a kick out of this. I don't understand French, but enjoyed the film regardless. http://www.blogotheque.net/2011/10/21/radio-vinyle-archie-shepp/ Quote

My French is very poor - I took some classes 45 years ago in college, but most of that has left me. I was able to pick up enough to make it interesting. Quote
.:.impossible Posted February 16, 2012 Report Posted February 16, 2012 Absolutely! Glad someone else enjoyed it. I got some of it, but most of it was just vibe. Looked like a good time! Quote
