JSngry Posted March 21, 2016 Report Posted March 21, 2016 This is new to me, for many reasons, none of them acceptable. Don't know the song anywhere else, but does it sound like Stax, the song itself, that is? Quote
paul secor Posted March 21, 2016 Report Posted March 21, 2016 (edited) Musically, it does have the sound of a soul ballad, and the piano adds to that sound. There was more musical interaction between soul and country than some people might have wanted to admit back then. Thanks for posting this, Jim. It was new to me too. Very good song and a great performance. Checked it out and the song was written by Red Lane, a well known country songwriter who wrote songs for Merle Haggard, among others, and Larry Henley, who was the lead singer for the Newbeats ("Bread and Butter") and later became a successful songwriter. I learn something new every day - or at least I try. Edited March 21, 2016 by paul secor Quote
skeith Posted March 21, 2016 Report Posted March 21, 2016 I know that song....for a long time....I am a huge fan of most things from Tammy....very underrated at least outside of country fans IMO. Quote
