Dmitry Posted February 4, 2016 Report Posted February 4, 2016 Sounds cool. Real early John Hicks on this recording. How's the sound? Quote
Mark Stryker Posted February 4, 2016 Report Posted February 4, 2016 Also Gene Taylor and Joe Chambers (!) Quote
king ubu Posted February 4, 2016 Report Posted February 4, 2016 WHOA-ed too! ... next up please someone find decent-sounding versions of those KD w/Red (or Fathead) airchecks! Quote
The Magnificent Goldberg Posted February 4, 2016 Report Posted February 4, 2016 I need more money! (And more space.) Does this label's material appear as downloads, chaps? MG Quote
king ubu Posted February 4, 2016 Report Posted February 4, 2016 don't think so - at least not via amazon ... but you can get them fairly cheap at jazzmessenger's: http://www.jazzmessengers.com/en/98989898/complete-catalog-of-the-label-uptown?format=CD_ Quote
Joe Posted February 4, 2016 Report Posted February 4, 2016 If only this date featured Grant Green... More Left Bank treasures? Quote

Or was that another venue the Left Bank Jazz Society organized concerts at? It was my first impulse too, to state just this, but then I don't know the history of LBJS that well and am not aware of the venues in Baltimore etc. Quote

king ubu Posted February 4, 2016 Report Posted February 4, 2016 (edited) so this IS a Left Bank recording? if Uptown has access to these treasures, that would be mighty cool indeed! Edited February 4, 2016 by king ubu Quote
Dan Gould Posted February 4, 2016 Report Posted February 4, 2016 And only a few weeks wait this time? Awesome! And it just so happens that Feb 26 is the moving date for Plant City so this is going to be my own personal housewarming gift to myself!! Better make sure I update my shipping address in Amazon. So the only question that comes to mind is whether this is a stray Left Bank tape making it's way to Uptown or are there more in the pipeline? For that matter will we ever see more of the Piccadily tapes? It's like 2 or 3 years since the Hank was released, isn't it? Quote
Joe Posted February 4, 2016 Report Posted February 4, 2016 I see "Baltimore" and this vintage and I just immediately think "Left Bank." Looks good, and I'm sure it will sound good, too. As Jim notes... Joe Chambers! Quote
thirdtry Posted February 4, 2016 Report Posted February 4, 2016 I'm not sure about the release date. Â Amazon says 2/26 but Deep Discount/Import CDs says 3/18. Quote

I'm seriously ripping my collection to hard drive at present - African K7s are really hard though and you can't find the sleeves on the web. Life's full of pains in the arse, ain't it? MG Quote

MG Do what I do: buy an inexpensive scanner (I have the Epson V300), scan the artwork on the K7s and import them into iTunes or whichever you use. Quote
