Harbour Posted January 30, 2016 Report Posted January 30, 2016 This seems to getting its first cd issue soon * MAL WALDRON - Meditations (Live At Dug) [SCOL-4014] Mini LP CD not heard it but big fan of his other early 70s Japanese albums on Victor, Tokyo Bound, First Encounter which also need reissuing. seems strange that this is being reissued by itself, must be part of some series but only one can find so far. felser Posted January 30, 2016 Report Posted January 30, 2016 I hope somebody reissues the duo album he did with Gary Peacock. Quote

Harbour, who's reissuing this? I hope you're right that this might be the first reissue of all of Waldron's Japanese Victor recordings. So many of them are GREAT. Quote

This is being reissued by the Somethin' Cool label. Anyone heard of them? Is this even legit? It sure is prohibitively expensive, but the sound samples on Hmv are appealing. http://somethincool.net/ Sound samples Edited March 22, 2016 by erwbol Quote

You're right, clifford. It is a trio. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_Encounter EDIT: I just noticed an error on that wikipedia entry: The label is listed as RCA Victor. That's incorrect. The label is Victor Japan. Never trust what you read on the internet. Edited March 22, 2016 by HutchFan Quote
erwbol Posted April 3, 2017 Report Posted April 3, 2017 (edited) Who here is familiar with Mal Wadron's The Opening on Futura? This was recently re-issued, but is already out of stock at Jazzmessengers (link). One copy available on Discogs. Probably not in the same league as the pretty great Meditations: Live at Dug, but still ... Edited April 3, 2017 by erwbol Quote
Niko Posted April 3, 2017 Report Posted April 3, 2017 until a few weeks ago, you could have ordered it directly from the label at a more than reasonable price (10 Euro incl shipping)... but with Terrones gone, I somewhat doubt that this is still possible (even though the webpage does not indicate anything...) At least, you can listen to a sample track there... http://futuramarge.free.fr/ Quote

clifford_thornton Posted April 4, 2017 Report Posted April 4, 2017 I think it is, yes, and one of the better-pressed Futura LPs. Quote
