This seems to getting its first cd issue soon

* MAL WALDRON - Meditations (Live At Dug) [SCOL-4014] Mini LP CD

not heard it but big fan of his other early 70s Japanese albums on Victor, Tokyo Bound, First Encounter which also need reissuing.

seems strange that this is being reissued by itself, must be part of some series but only one can find so far.

Harbour, who's reissuing this?

I hope you're right that this might be the first reissue of all of Waldron's Japanese Victor recordings. So many of them are GREAT. :tup

I hope somebody reissues the duo album he did with Gary Peacock.

By the look of the cat no it's Solid Records who put out a lot of Enja stuff recently, I looked at other similar cat nos and the only other two coming out on same date are a Bill Evans live 66 and a live 80 album?

l would love First Encounter to be reissued too!

This is being reissued by the Somethin' Cool label. Anyone heard of them? Is this even legit? It sure is prohibitively expensive, but the sound samples on Hmv are appealing.

First Encounter is a trio with drummer Hiroshi Murakami, unless there's a duo record I'm forgetting...

You're right, clifford.  It is a trio. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_Encounter

EDIT:
I just noticed an error on that wikipedia entry: The label is listed as RCA Victor. That's incorrect. The label is Victor Japan.

Never trust what you read on the internet. ;)

Who here is familiar with Mal Wadron's The Opening on Futura? This was recently re-issued, but is already out of stock at Jazzmessengers (link).

One copy available on Discogs.

Probably not in the same league as the pretty great Meditations: Live at Dug, but still ...

until a few weeks ago, you could have ordered it directly from the label at a more than reasonable price (10 Euro incl shipping)... but with Terrones gone, I somewhat doubt that this is still possible (even though the webpage does not indicate anything...) At least, you can listen to a sample track there...

The Opening is amazing. No reason not to buy it if you see it.

What's the sound quality of the vinyl like? Is this a good recording?
