Not sure if those liner notes are found on other issues, so shop carefully!

What I should have added is that Gould takes a comically cynical air of condescension towards these "hits", like, hey everybody's gotta eat, and then plays them in such a way as to prove his point. I swear it's a veryhi-concept comedy album! But only with the notes...

I like Gould a lot, and if that's because I never learned why I shouldn't, hey...oh well.

Are they considered humorous? I LMAOed, but maybe that's just me.

What cinches it for me is how he plays them exactly like he critiques them in the notes. He didn't have to do it like that. It's like a total throwing of shade.

Kurt Masur - The Complete Warner Classics Edition, disc 60.

I'm finding that Teldec recorded the orchestra a little too far away - there's more room reverberation than if miked closer, therefore more echo and less detail.  Do you think differently?  Just curious.

oehh difficult question. I think i understand what you mean by room reverberation and echo but i definetely hear everything, love the echo ! The violin does sound a little distant sometimes maybe ... from what i remember.
