Still think that it is a little bit more tame than other recordings but cohesion is indeed a strong point.

Kubelik's second sounded liveless/dull to me, a little boring ...

I agree that Kubelik's reading of Mahler's Second is one of the (relatively) weaker links in his cycle -- but I still think it's very good.  IMO, it's just not quite on the same EXALTED level as most of the other recordings in Kubelik's cycle.

My 2 cents.

I need to do that.  IMO, Kubelik's live M5 and his DLvdE on Audite are recordings for the ages!

I do appreciate having a Mahler cycle by Abbado VPO/CSO with a lot of merits .... both Kubelik and Abbado established groundbreaking views on this composer's euvre ....
