Maurice Ravel conducted by Jean Martinon with the Orchestre de Paris.

Over the last few years, Martinon has become one of my favorite conductors.  His approach to conducting has the (very French) transparency of Boulez but also the (well balanced) expressiveness of his teacher, Charles Munch.  Others might deliver more color, but there's something very appealing (to me, at least) about the astringency that Martinon brings to the table.  It's all a very potent combination, imo.

From one of the all-time Mahler cycles .... believe Kubelik started his Mahler recordings with Symphony 3 ....
