Now spinning:

Antonín Dvořák: Dumky-Trio, op. 90 / Beaux Arts Trio (Philips)
A lovely interpretation with a sure but delicate touch.

Now on my turntable:

Laurindo Almeida (g), Salli Terri (vo) & Others – Duets with the Spanish Guitar, Album 2 (Angel)
Originally released in 1960 on Capitol

Almeida's & Terri's first collaboration was superb -- and this second one is too.

Gesualdo binge (just ordered a recording of Tenebrae). I went for a mix of performers of the Madrigals, didn't want to commit to one ensemble.

Well, if you like .. ahem, jazz.. you might want to check out this one:

Thanks, I might try that later.

Also this, though "jazz" is used figuratively:

But right now I'm listening to

polyphonie-flamande-ric102-2021111610410

Discs 1-3 (various/Dufay, Dufay, Dufay), 4 (Binchois/Ockeghem). This is a good set.

What do you think about her view on Bach .... ?

That was only my first listen.  I recently picked up the CD at library book sale.

Initial impressions:  It sounded like "old-school" (as in mid-20th c.) Bach.  Romanticized and rhapsodic, rather than architectural.  Not at all HIP -- but I enjoyed it.

What are your thoughts on Pires' Bach?
