HutchFan Posted August 20, 2023 Report Posted August 20, 2023 The recordings by Szell & Serkin may be more intense -- but Jochum & Gilels' relatively slower pace makes these already large-scale concertos sound even more massive, giving them a symphony-like grandeur. Desert-island stuff, for sure.
