"A Copland Celebration--Vol. 1" (Sony)

2 discs of Aaron Copland conducting: (1) a bunch of his music played by the London Symphony Orchestra and New Philharmonia Orchestra;  (2) and perhaps most significantly, the original chamber version of the entire "Appalachian Spring" ballet played by the Columbia Chamber Ensemble, and "Nonet for Strings" played by the Columbia String Ensemble.

Agreed!  The original chamber version of the entire "Appalachian Spring" ballet and the track of Copland in rehearsal of it were real revelations.  And that's after having listened to and loved the full orchestral version for 50-plus years.

Continuing on the Copland journey today:

Copland, Rodeo (Four Dance Episodes) / The Red Pony (Suite) /Prairie Journal / Letter from Home

JoAnn Falletta, Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra (Naxos)
