Now playing:

Canteloube-Songsofthe-Auv-Davrath.png

As far as I'm concerned, Netania Davrath "owns" Canteloube's Songs of the Auvergne.

It's a perfect pairing.  No other singer even comes close.

She had a beautiful voice.  I have pieces sung by her on the following Bach Guild (Vanguard) releases: Big Beethoven Box, Big Baroque Box Volume 4, Big Schubert Box, Big Haydn Box, and Big Jewish Music Box.

Yes!!!  I think her voice is very distinctive too.  It's unstudied (in the best sense) and natural.  Not at all "operatic."

Have you heard Davrath's rendition of Mahler's Fourth -- with Abravanel & the Utah SO?  It's amazing, another perfect pairing of artist and repertoire.
