Ron S Posted June 12, 2023 Report Posted June 12, 2023 (edited) Just finished listening to a fascinating CD of relatively obscure Copland music written for: (1) a puppet show at the 1939 NY World's Fair ("From Sorcery to Science); (2) a documentary film shown at the 1939 NY World's Fair ("The City (Suite)"); (3) a WWII documentary about the resettlement of refugees in the US ("The Cummington Story (Suite, Arr. Sheffer)"); and (4) a WWII Hollywood film about Ukrainians fighting Nazi invaders ("The North Star (Suite)"), which seems relevant right now.
