mikeweil Posted April 25, 2021 Report Posted April 25, 2021 (edited) Was lucky to find a sealed copy of this long oop set on amazon offered by a reliable French retailer that often has interesting things. I had been looking for this for more than ten years - it was sold out fast after it was released. Woelfl is a very interesting composer, friend of Mozart, born in Salzburg and taught by Mozart's father and Michael Haydn, serious competitor to Beethoven ( to whom he dedicated his op.6) in Vienna, but went on to Paris and London (where he died). He had large hands and was able to grasp 13th intervals! This may be the reason why some of his works are never played ..... The music in this set is wonderful and of interest to anybody loving Mozart or Beethoven, Marvellously played by an excellent pianist on a unique instrument, the only surviving piano by a builder from Naples obviously well-versed in Viennese piano building. I received it yesterday, put it on for breakfast this morning and was enchanted! Edited April 25, 2021 by mikeweil Quote
