I feel a bit silly saying this, given all the differences involved, but I feel he has a kinship with Schubert. 'Arnold Schönberg' ? Rathaus saw his compositions in the tradition of Richard Strauss, Gustav Mahler, Igor Stravinsky and his teacher Franz Schreker. Edited April 15, 2021 by Referentzhunter Quote

mikeweil Posted April 15, 2021 Report Posted April 15, 2021 (edited) Got one of the last copies of this OOP recording for just € 13.00 - originally it was sold for three times as much, so I couldn't resist. Excellent performance of an opera that Handel used for "inspiration" .... Edited April 15, 2021 by mikeweil Quote

mikeweil Posted April 17, 2021 Report Posted April 17, 2021 (edited) This was my brunch music today. Excellent performance of beautiful music. Every serious lover of violin music should have this. Inspired by this item that I received and played yesterday. To me , the Benda brothers were very good composers on a level with the Bach sons. Sturm & Drang attitudes in the fast movements, and slow movememts that moved Nend's listeners to tears, as was reported. Edited April 17, 2021 by mikeweil Quote
