Man, these covers... Shostakovich = Soviet twenties propaganda posters is such a lazy lazy approach (this is a nice poster, nothing against it per se). And for his quartets this is not event remotely relevant.

From old days of exploring microtonal/overtone music, hadn't listened for a long time. Not sure what to think, offhand it's kind of a "strongly rhythmic" minimalism that I'm not wild about.

I thought the liner notes and recording quality were pretty decent though. I also appreciated the inclusion of quartets by Soviet contemporaries of his. And the price for the complete set is a steal.
