jazzbo
Rimsy Korsakoff "Scheherezade" Moscow State Symphony Orchestra on Classic Records 24/192 DVD Audio disc. I received about a dozen of these 2 disc sets (cd, and dual DVD one side 24/96, one 24/192) which are on sale at Acoustic Sounds for 2 to 7 dollars each or so, worth checking out. Phenomenal sound. Don`t know this release, but Sofronitsky`s playing rarely disappoints .... the beauty of the Denon releases is the wonderful restore of this recordings (you`ve been warned ) .... I have a extensive Scriabin discography somewhere, but can`t find it for now ....
HutchFan
5 hours ago, Referentzhunter said: Is this the definitive set ? I'm nowhere near expert enough to call it definitive -- but I've enjoyed Zhukov recordings of Scriabin's music very much. I only have one other LP of Zhukov performing Scriabin (below), and I've been thinking about upgrading to Zhukov's complete set of Scriabin sonatas, which Melodiya has reissued on two CDs. . . . the complete set of sonatas on CD: FWIW, I also like Scriabin recordings by Sofronitzky, Horowitz, Melnikov, Ashkenazy, Berman . . . It would be difficult to pick just one interpreter.

HutchFan
Now streaming: Berlioz: Symphonie fantastique / Cluytens & the Philharmonia Orchestra I've been using Spotify to sample stuff from this set, and I'm liking it very much -- especially the French music (but not just the French music). So I'm thinking about plopping for the box. It's relatively inexpensive -- for a set with 65 (!) CDs. Anyone have it?
