Referentzhunter Posted February 28, 2019 Report Posted February 28, 2019 (edited) My first listen and i don't want to be to pretentious about my knowledge about these Sonatas, but.... Difficult sonatas to play i would say. He plays them super fast if required but harmonic also and with soul. I could imagine Prokofiev would be proud. It has the Russian touch. I am super happy. Referentzhunter Posted March 1, 2019 Report Posted March 1, 2019 (edited) One euro find in mint condition. A lot of music for 1 euro i would say. Not bad. Edited March 1, 2019 by Referentzhunter Quote
Referentzhunter Posted March 1, 2019 Report Posted March 1, 2019 Also 1 euro find. Heard good things about Horowitz playing Scarlatti. Beautifull textured cover also. Quote

Between Brahms' Ein Deutsches Requiem and Vaughan Williams' Sea Symphony, I've been on a choral kick lately. Until recently, I never thought of this symphony as one of Vaughan Williams' best. Now I do. Handley's recording has completely won me over. Quote

Karajan's Sibelius and his Bruckner are legendary, but I've never really grooved to them. And HvK's Mahler gives me the willies! To my ears, they're a complete mismatch of composer and conductor. And yet . . . Karajan's Brahms is AMAZING. It almost always wins me over. . . . His Brahms is like his Beethoven. It just sounds right. Or at least it does to me. Also a bad combination are Mozart and Karajan. yak Edited March 1, 2019 by Referentzhunter Quote
