papsrus
Following Mikeweil on this one. Only had a chance to listen to the first of two discs, but overall just lovely melodies, peaceful tempos. Excellent tonic for what ails you. mikeweil
Today's arrival - excellent!!! It also contains the complete music for viols by Louis Couperin. He and Roberday belong to the same generation and probably knew wach other. These Fugues and Caprices are Roberday's only kown music, as he quit the Paris music scene in 1661 (the year Louis Couperin died) and lived in retirement for the remaining twenty years of his life. His organ pieces are some of the best counterpoint ever written in France, and can be performed by a viol consort as well, as is practiced here. The organ heard is magnificent.
