The critic Uwe Friedrich has panned the recording this morning at Deutschlandfunk (German Radio): Trivial (“belanglos”) - an advertising article for the souvenir shop. Here is the whole text: http://www.deutschlandfunk.de/symphonien-von-brahms-die-ersten-aufnahmen-in-der.727.de.html?dram:article_id=377563

Been quite obsessed with the two Janacek string quartets recently.  The version I've got is wonderfully played by the Janacek Quartet (who should know what they're doing with this music...) but on a quite noisy old LP, would like to add a good CD version to my collection.  Any recommendations?

I'm not an expert (or that experienced a classical listener), but I have the Skampa Quartet's version and have enjoyed listening to it.

Thanks - bought the Takac CD with both Janaceks and the 1st Smetana - wonderful!

Die Walkure

Do you suppose Trump is listening to Ride of the Valkyries now while watching all those stranded muslim airport passengers? A stylish black and white Hakenkreuz would not look out of place on that box.
