Been listening to two dozen ciaconas and chaconnes from as many 17th century composers during the last few hours, to prepare a lecture on this type of "dance" .....

Now listening to Shostakovich's Fourth Symphony, as heard in this 2-LP set:

Like the DSCH albums above, this music originally was recorded for Melodiya in the Soviet Union and then subsequently licensed for release in the U.S.
