Very interesting re-interpretations of Debussy piano works by for piano / percussion duet by Alexei Lubimov and Vladimir Tarasov. The first CD is Debussy played straight (very well) by Lubimov, and the second one is piano / percussion duets. It does not always work, but interesting nonetheless.

Yes, it is a true reference recording and an absolute must-have for the fifth and seventh. No doubt about it.

Harnoncourt certainly has the fire but his recordings lack emotional involvement/depth and the sound of the Chamber Orchestra doesn't work that well ether. Maybe the fifth works best for me here.

Btw regarding Beethoven 6 + 7 (again), his recordings with Bayrisches Staatsorchester (Orfeo) are outstanding ....

With regard to Harnoncourt, I'm not overly convinced too ....
