Found a rare and vauable boxset at triftstore yesterday. Bruno Walter, Erich Kleiber  Furtwangler, Adrian Boult, Carl Schuricht, Pierre Monteux and others here. This is a rare find. NP:

Gian  Francesco Malipiero - Concerto for Violincello an orchestra, 12-01-1941 (Eduard von Beinum & Enrico Maiardi at the Violincello)

Max Reger - 4 Tondichtungen Nach Arnold  Bocklin, 20-02-1941 (Herman Abendroth)

Edgard Elgar - Variations on an original theme 'Enigma', 29-02-1940 (Adrian Boult)

could be a reason also..  and what about exhaustion ? These guys had to perform for years and years.

Possibly .... he toured extensively in the 70`s .... and he didn`t cut loose with the then absorbing "classical business" like for instance Friedrich Gulda did ....

I'm continuing my Brahms run with Arthur Rubinstein and Gregor Piatigorsky performing the Cello Sonatas, as heard in this set:
