mjzee Posted June 18 Report Posted June 18 Kurt Masur - The Complete Warner Classics Edition, disc 60. On 6/16/2024 at 5:18 AM, Referentzhunter said: Dvorak Violin Concerto is fantastic ! Sound quality as is the performance. Love this disc. I'm finding that Teldec recorded the orchestra a little too far away - there's more room reverberation than if miked closer, therefore more echo and less detail. Do you think differently? Just curious. Quote

mikeweil Posted June 19 Report Posted June 19 I am somewhat disappointed. The label used a modern Steinwaay D piano, ignoring the fact that its sound and touch are quite different from the pianos when these recordings were made. Some subleties are lost, the magic the Condon Collection recordings transmit is lost. Quote
HutchFan Posted June 19 Report Posted June 19 Beethoven: Piano Sonatas Nos. 21 & 28, performed by Emil Gilels (DG) The record I'm playing is a "Bonus LP" that came with Gilels' set of Brahms' piano concertos with Jochum: Quote
