clifford_thornton Posted February 25, 2004 Report Posted February 25, 2004 (edited) I just picked this one up last weekend. Great music but what were those LP cover designers thinking? Ranks up there with Chick Corea’s smurf-themed Friends album. If the pictured sleeve was from a Barre Phillips record, I'd shit myself... Edited February 25, 2004 by clifford_thornton Quote

chuckyd4 Posted June 1, 2004 Report Posted June 1, 2004 Definite kitsch factor here, but it's always struck me as overwhelmingly bad Quote
Alexander Posted June 1, 2004 Report Posted June 1, 2004 Definite kitsch factor here, but it's always struck me as overwhelmingly bad Nope. Classic album and a classic cover. Nothin' bad about it. Quote
Brandon Burke Posted June 1, 2004 Report Posted June 1, 2004 IYHO, right? No. It's a bonafide classic. Clearly, the cover is a little odd but that's a great record. Way over the top, as far as their Christian leanings are concerned, but the Louvins are a serious presence in American Western music. The tune "The Christian Life" off of this record was covered by the Byrds on their foray into country, Sweetheart of the Rodeo, in 1968. One of the best dive-bar jukebox CDs ever. Quote
kulu se mama Posted June 1, 2004 Report Posted June 1, 2004 the new todd rundgren album is getting great reviews, but the cover is so bad i'm not sure that i will pick it up. i'm not sure how to post a picture, so maybe someone can help out. Quote

I can't believe that no one has chimed in regarding the Louvins! I was expecting a ton of responses here. Especially Sangrey. C'mon people..... Quote
JSngry Posted June 2, 2004 Report Posted June 2, 2004 Sorry. Yes, classsic in ALL regards. Definitely! Quote
danasgoodstuff Posted June 2, 2004 Report Posted June 2, 2004 The Louvins are indeed the real deal, the last in the long line of brother duets--the Monroes, the Allens, the Blue Sky Boys, the Delmores--last that is unless you count the Everleys, which I do... If Satan is Real is a bit much for your tastes, check out their Sorrowful Songs of Life instead. Quote

C'mon people..... I LOVE that cover!!! I remember reading that they made the set themselves. The Devil looks like a bunny. Quote
wesbed Posted October 15, 2004 Report Posted October 15, 2004 (edited) Am I alone in thinking this is a particularly poor album cover? Sheesh, it looks like Rod has a pair of female legs growing out of the right side of his deformed ass. Ol' Rod can reach over, touch his own sexy leg, and get a thrill. It's Rod Stewart starring as 'The Man With Four Legs.' He roams the streets, fights crime and keeps the city safe. Once he gets you in his leg lock, your criminal activites are as good as finished in this town. Edited October 15, 2004 by wesbed Quote

Enterprise Server Posted October 16, 2004 Report Posted October 16, 2004 This is an outstanding recording by Bobby Hutcherson. But what in the hell was Blue Note thinking when they approved this cover??????? Quote
