Not sure if this is a true recommendation, but I sampled some stuff from a lengthy CD collecting various performances of Jim Hall with Jimmy Giuffre. I'm sure most would agree that they put together a fair amount of classic stuff.  Most of the tunes on this compilation are unfamiliar to me.  The things with a latin feel don't do much for me, but others sound really good.

Your thoughts?

No thoughts, can't seem to find any specifics online. Care to share some more details? If this is a full disc of Giuffre 3 recordings, I 'd surely be interested. That is, if this isn't just stuff around already ... Nagel-Heyer is legit, but this will most likely be a PD release, so ...

I don't know how legit it is.  I found it on a download site some would find dubious.  Some tracks are from the most renowned trio album (the one with "The Train and the River," "Crawdad Suite") etc.  I'm guessing nothing is in the newly-discovered area, or even exceptionally rare--though, again, a lot of tracks are unfamiliar to me.

So you think it's the Atlantic studio recordings of the Giuffre 3? That would be a lousy move indeed ... the fact that a search for Jim Hall on the Nagel Heyer website does not turn up a thing makes it look pretty fishy indeed.

The music is great of course, no doubt about that (even if it ends up being stuff I don't know, I'm quite positive about that).

As long as you're befriending the internet, ask it what that great Pacific Jazz Chico Hamilton trio record that at 10" had Howard Roberts on guitar but used Jim Hall to add two additional inches of size is doing for the weekend.
