GA Russell
The scuttlebutt is that Amazon will celebrate its 20th anniversary with Black Friday-type deals the week of July 12.http://www.aftvnews.com/amazon-to-celebrate-20th-anniversary-with-huge-sale-starting-july-12th/#more-7560
GA Russell
This says that Amazon will promote Wednesday the 15th as Prime Day.http://www.foxnews.com/tech/2015/07/06/amazon-new-prime-day-celebration-promises-more-deals-than-black-friday/?intcmp=featuresIf this sale turns out to be no big deal, I suspect a lot of people are going to be upset. GA Russell
Yes, but Mike, the link in my second post says that anyone can sign up for a free 30-day trial period, and then cancel before being billed. Dave Garrett
I got emails from both Amazon UK and Amazon Germany this morning announcing this and urging me to sign up for Prime. Guess they're just blasting out emails to anyone who's ever purchased from them and isn't a Prime member in the respective countries. The free 30-day trial is a clear indication that this is all about getting more people to sign up as Prime members, figuring that once they've tried it, they'll be hooked, thus guaranteeing more recurring revenue for Amazon. BeBop
Thanks. I'm not a shopper, but the reaction is interesting. All about expectations, I think. The hype machine.

mjzee
The question is: what did Amazon promise or allude to, vs. what did they deliver. Sounds like they delivered bupkis, therefore they deserve the criticism.

BFrank
For me the timing was perfect. My printer died yesterday and I was about to order a new one but decided to wait ... and today it was $25 cheaper!Even better, Best Buy also dropped their price by $25, so I bought from them because I could pick it up today. WD45
I looked all day long and there was so little in the way of LPs. I did snag the Dylan mono LP box for 46% off, which is nice.
GA Russell
I see that Amazon is going to try "Prime Day" again this year, this time on July 12. I have to think that they have learned their lesson, and that this year's will be much better. If not, I think they will break Twitter!
