LF Transition label LP TRLP-18

[Stonewall15]

Looking for Transition LP TRLP-18 "Jazz Down Beat" by Jay Migliori. Lord discography lists this LP but other sources say that the LP was never released. Perhaps it was issued by another label, such as Blue Note or Delmark, or by another title. The LP TRLP-30 "Jazz In Transition" booklet shows track listing and picture of this session and the LP has one of the TRLP-18 songs (Something's Gotta Give).

It is likely that this session was never actually released as an LP. It probably exists only as a magnetic tape. The tape, if it still exists, is probably stored somewhere on a shelf or in a box of miscellaneous music. Hopefully the tape will eventually show up where it can be produced as an LP or on a CD.

I've never seen this Migliori LP; thought the first one to be issued was on PBR (heh) in the 70s, a funky one with Nick Martinis (Don Ellis, Paul Bley) on drums. Although I assume someone has the tapes since there's a track on Jazz In Transition...

Not certain if it was issued at the time but by the '60s the master tapes were in the hands of Migliori.

You could try to use this to contact her to see if she still has the master or if anyone ever issued the music on it.

She's still on Facebook and seems to be posting.

Through Facebook, I was able to contact Jay Migliori's niece, Sheri Campbell and she is going to ask her Aunt Patti to see if she knows anything about this.

I tried messaging Cary Baker on Facebook since he is listed as being the one who interviewed Jay's widow Patty for the recent Omnivore release of a lost Migliori date. I don't know if he'll answer a random Facebook person's request, so if anyone knows him, see if you can get him to ask Patty about this.

Bresna seemingly has put more effort into trying to resolve this issue than anyone here. That's Kevin, helpful to a fault. To be clear, my comment was not directed toward him.

Yes, Dan in Florida (stonewall15) is ok. One track from Jay Migliori's Trlp-18 was released on "Jazz in Transition" LP/CD TRLP-30. Song is "Something's Gotta Give".

I still have hope that the tape for TRLP-18 will eventually show up. Thanx to Sonnymax and Clifford Thornton for keeping this search alive.
