Iowa City Jazz Festival 2015

The line-up for the Iowa City Jazz Festival looks appealing, especially July 3rd and 4th which includes Rudresh Mahanthappa's Bird Calls, Dave Douglas' High Risk, Whirlpool with Ron Miles, Julian Lage Trio, Ben Allison's Think Free, and Charles Lloyd Quartet. It will be 5 hour drive for me, however, so not sure if I'll make it. Has anyone been to the Iowa City Jazz Festival before? Any thoughts?

I hope you make the drive!  I chair the ICJF Committee and book the festival. It's a great, free, outdoor festival.  The setting is fantastic.  The main stage is set up at the foot of the steps of the Old Capital on the University of Iowa campus and the audience spreads out in a huge arc on the grass lawn of the Pentacrest.  Bring lawn chairs, blankets, etc.  Lots of food available from street vendors and downtown restaurants.  Where will you be traveling from if you come?
