Ted O'Reilly Posted June 25, 2015 Report Posted June 25, 2015 I just came home half an hour ago from introducing and hearing Ingrid as a featured soloist with her sister Christine's Montreal-based Jazz Orchestra at the TD Toronto Jazz Festival. An invigorating performance by all, with Ingrid as a standout of course. She's among the really good trumpeters playing today... (Compelling tenor man Andre Leroux was outstanding, too...) Quote
Van Basten II Posted June 25, 2015 Report Posted June 25, 2015 Leroux is a lot of fun to listen indeed especially in a "old school" context , great tone on the sax. Best gig I heard him was with drummer Ari Hoenig who in the words of Leroux kicked his butt and obliged him to go through all his ressources , A bit of a shame he never made the move to try himself out outside our local scene. Lazaro Vega Posted July 1, 2015 Author Report Posted July 1, 2015 Cool Ted -- I referenced the tour at the top of this program. The link is now expired. Ingrid spends some time teaching at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor with her friend, pianist/composer Ellen Rowe. Love her. Quote
Van Basten II Posted July 1, 2015 Report Posted July 1, 2015 Saw Ingrid yesterday in a quintet led by Marianne Trudel, great stuff , beautiful arrangements where Jensen had her share of stellar solos. Think of the Maria Schneider Orchestra richness of sound combined in a quintet while keeping the energy of a small formation. Quote
