Forest of Radnor, with the Black Mountains in the distance - Francis Towne. 1810

Saw this the other day in a room full of 18th/19thC paintings and drawings; was struck by how 20thC it seemed.

Agreed, it does look 20thC. John Sell Cotman who painted English landscapes at that time was even more so. Can't manage to post a pic - check him out on Google Images. And also try "Thomas Jones painter", a Welshman in Naples in the 18thC, who seems to anticipate Cézanne.

Yes. I took these shots when I was in Europe for 12 days with my Son last month.

An amazing journey.

Prague.

When I told these guys I was an American who loves Jazz, they returned with What a Wonderful World.

Made my day.

I highly recommend it.

It was my first time in Europe and I was just wowed by the sheer beauty of the places we went, the history, the music and the people we met. Five countries in 12 days [Germany, Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary and Slovakia] cruising down the Danube. We finished in Munich.

When we were in Prague we caught the last night of the Festival of Light.

While in Budapest, we cruised the Danube with the all the buildings lit up.

Absolutely spectacular!
