JSngry
Apparently there are many(ish) http://www.ejazzlines.com/Charlie-Parker-With-Strings-Arrangements-c1804.html Has anybody done a project on these yet? Not sure how "worthwhile" it would be given the recorded charts, but I do feel that "Rocker" as heard in live performances was more to the point than were many of the standards, and there are other Mulligan charts in there. End point - "Ezz-thetic"...I feel a need to hear that at least once. And not like this: http://www.ejazzlines.com/c1804/EZZ-THETIC-p106831.html And ok, Carisi! http://www.ejazzlines.com/c1804/IVE-GOT-YOU-UNDER-MY-SKIN-p172920.html
JSngry
Whoa, John Lewis, working that "Morpheus" vein a little bit: http://www.ejazzlines.com/c1804/SCOOTIN-p107157.html MIDI files like this might require some "imagination" to convert into "real instruments" while listening, but...just do it! MomsMobley
this reminds me in world with Braxton Bird (not my fave AB) & Braxton operas (always interesting, often great), someone, Braxton or otherwise, should commit to & extend etc these charts, this concept--
Hardbopjazz
I have a recording of the JALC performing the unrecorded ones. There were big time guests on that recording. I have to dig out the recording to see who they are. I can't remember this early in the morning and without my coffee.
JSngry
I you get a chance to pull out the details, that would be great! I'm also assuming that this is a private recording, and not a commercially released affair, correct?
Gheorghe
well, "Goldrush" is on the Rockland Concert 1952. That whole concert is really great Bird. the other Bird with Strings live that I like very much are the two Birdland sets from 1953, with some conversation with Symphony Sid. medjuck
Rockland also has a version of Stardust with strings that isn't listed here. (And btw I just noticed that the listings of the songs on the 2nd disc are all screwed up.)
