Kevin Bresnahan Posted May 19, 2015 Report Posted May 19, 2015 Tom Evered is reporting on Facebook that Bruce Lundvall passed away at 3:00 PM today. He was a great friend to the Jazz community and will be missed. A sad day for Jazz. His Wiki page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bruce_Lundvall Quote
JSngry Posted May 19, 2015 Report Posted May 19, 2015 Moving this to Artists, because the way he navigated the industry was superbly artistic, not unlike so much of the music that he facilitated. Quote
Hardbopjazz Posted May 19, 2015 Report Posted May 19, 2015 RIP Bruce. I listen to his program on Sirius/XM many times. Quote
jlhoots Posted May 19, 2015 Report Posted May 19, 2015 Saw the Heath Brothers documentary last night in which he participated. R.I.P. Quote
sidewinder Posted May 20, 2015 Report Posted May 20, 2015 (edited) RIP and many thanks Mr Lundvall for a great legacy of stewardship at CBS and Blue Note. So much great music nurtured and released thanks to him. A very sad day for jazz, for sure. Wasn't there a thread a short while ago about an auction of his art collection? medjuck Posted May 21, 2015 Report Posted May 21, 2015 I had business dealings with him a couple of times and he was always gracious. (He also gave me the Monk and Bud Powell Blue Note box sets.) A very nice manin a business where you can't say that about everybody. Quote
Justin V Posted May 21, 2015 Report Posted May 21, 2015 Thank you for contributions, Mr. Lundvall, and rest in peace. Quote
MomsMobley Posted May 28, 2015 Report Posted May 28, 2015 & because the great "The African Game" album on Blue Note that Bruce put out isn't on youtube... Quote
Kevin Bresnahan Posted May 28, 2015 Author Report Posted May 28, 2015 (edited) If anyone on Facebook is friends with Tom Evered (tomatbluenote on the old Blue Note bulletin board), he has been posting some funny reminisces about Bruce called Tale Of Topsy. They paint the picture of a man who loved life and made it better for those around him. I wish I had known him. Edited May 29, 2015 by Kevin Bresnahan Quote
paul secor Posted May 28, 2015 Report Posted May 28, 2015 I read the story as Bruce Lundvall eating and boozing on the company's tab. And who paid for that? You and I. Quote
