clifford_thornton Posted April 15, 2015 Report Posted April 15, 2015 I'm extremely fond of this one: I have a hard time choosing among the Braxton soli, though the ones I have skew toward the earlier end - Delmark, America, Arista, Futura. Hard also to choose a Lacy solo as there are so many stupendous ones. Solo at Mandara is really nice (have only heard it - don't own a physical copy). Cycles is one I've been spending time with lately - partly including duets with a dancer - and it's quite wonderful as well. Need to check out that Silkheart disc as the only sets of his on that label that I know are ensemble. Quote

I'm also all for Brötzmann solo, especially 14 Love Poems but there are other excellent ones as well. Generally put brass in another category from wind instruments but there are of course no peers to this: Quote
