sonnymax
Stan Freberg, a humorist whose sprawling imagination fueled a multifaceted career that included pretty much inventing the idea of using satire in commercials, died on Tuesday in Santa Monica, Calif. He was 88. Mr. Freberg was a hard man to pin down. He made hit comedy records, voiced hundreds of cartoon characters and succeeded Jack Benny in one of radio’s most prestigious time slots. He called himself a “guerrilla satirist,” using humor as a barbed weapon to take on issues ranging from the commercialization of Christmas to the hypocrisy of liberals. NY Times obit I loved his Dragnet parodies, featuring June Foray. Thanks, and rest in peace Stan. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oUdFLyNCeI4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uWunj7Yw3PQ
BeBop
As a kid, I loved this guy. I still have a couple of his LPs. Thanks for the laughs, Mr. Freberg. Edited April 8, 2015 by BeBop

duaneiac
Wow. I'm very sad to hear this. Stan Freburg was one of my comedy heroes. From his work with Beany & Cecil to his radio show to his comedy albums to his commercials ("Who put eight great tomatoes in that little bitty can?"), he was a genius in everything he did. And he could do jazz too! https://youtu.be/OyenSyjSr7k?t=44s Thanks so much Mr. Freburg, for a million laughs. May he rest in peace. sgcim
Back when they still had vinyl in libraries, I used to take out all of Stan's comedy records, and enjoyed them very much. RIP Mr. Freeberg.
duaneiac
I remember stumbling across this video by Mr. Freburg's son, Donovan, many years ago. I do hope they were able to come to a reconciliation over the past few years. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eUGK-J0ddjg Edited April 9, 2015 by duaneiac
