Bass player and songwriter with Free - one of my favourite of the more blues based English rock bands of the early 70s. They stood apart buecause of the song-writing skill that took them beyond the standard blues cliches and cock rock of their peers (though they did that too!).

That's a shame. Too young.

I'll admit that as a teenager Free meant Kossoff and Rodgers far more than Kirke and Fraser but at least I now know who wrote some of those great tunes

He was a very unique rock bassist. Quite a character. RIP.

Kirke is a very solid drummer as well, each of those four were so well-suited for each other and the music. Those slow grooves. . . Fraser and Kirke were uncommonly good at creating those. And Fraser was a very melodic and precise player.
