Purchased an LP on 23/5 from Tacoma, took a couple of days to get to Carson (via Seattle) where it sat for a week enjoying a Californian rest. Since 2/6 it's been 'Moving through the network' Thankfully covered by PayPal and a helpful, so far, seller. when do I give up on it? Early days yet. My last Mosaic shipment took several months with the tracking lost but it did eventually get here. The Horace Tapscott took less that a week ! Quote
mjazzg Posted June 13, 2023 Report Posted June 13, 2023 Yes, I agree it's early days. Just goes to show how quickly most things turn up 17 minutes ago, HutchFan said: It's still too soon, IMO. I'd say four weeks at an absolute minimum -- especially since it's got to hop the pond. More likely, you'll need to let six or eight weeks pass. After that, I'd begin working on a refund. My 2 cents. Thanks, I tend to agree. . It'll probably appear over on the east coast at some point then leap over the water from there. PayPal covers for 180 days so may as well give it a good chance Quote

Ken Dryden Posted September 9, 2023 Report Posted September 9, 2023 Warning to those shopping at Dusty Groove: Take their delivery estimate with a grain of salt for Express Mail. The USPS is screwing things up like my package is media mail. It bounced around the Chicago are for several days, made it to Knoxville, Chattanooga, then rerouted to Nashville. Maybe I will get it a week after it was shipped. They must throw stuff in random bins for fun. Quote
Eric Posted September 9, 2023 Report Posted September 9, 2023 As for Dusty Groove, I have pleasantly discovered that media mail does not take 1-3 weeks as described, but rather is on par with First Class the vast majority of the time. Chicago to Kansas City, maybe that is part of it, straight shot. This has saved me some coin. Quote
JSngry Posted September 9, 2023 Report Posted September 9, 2023 My Dusty a groove Media Mail usually gets here in a week. Quote
ejp626 Posted September 9, 2023 Report Posted September 9, 2023 Generally not having major problems with USPS, though one package on its way from Montreal to Chicago has vanished. 😞 I hope it turns up but not holding out any hope at this point (several months later). 😢 Quote

Ken Dryden Posted September 9, 2023 Report Posted September 9, 2023 Good news! I emailed Dusty Groove about USPS incompetence and received a $10.90 credit since the order didn’t arrive within the delivery window. They take care of customers! Quote

I wonder if DG can get that back from USPS (I’m assuming $10.90 was your shipping charge) — or if Dusty just eats it. Quote
Ken Dryden Posted September 9, 2023 Report Posted September 9, 2023 (edited) I am not sure. The reason for my email was to suggest changing the estimated delivery time, not to ask for a shipping cost adjustment. Edited September 11, 2023 by Ken Dryden Quote
Dan Gould Posted July 8 Author Report Posted July 8 So last week I placed two orders on discogs, different sellers but both in CA and both shipped nearly simultaneously and both packages went to the same distribution center also within hours of each other. Which one do you think made it to my local PO first? The LP box or the CD envelope? Lately media mail CDs have come quick but .... as far as I can tell the CD envelope is taking the scenic route across the country but later today I will receive the two LPs. Quote
Ken Dryden Posted July 8 Report Posted July 8 I always marvel at the USPS' ability to screw things up, sending packages across the country instead of from New York to Tennessee, or reaching our local distribution center then sending my package to the Nashville or Knoxville distribution center instead of our local post office a few miles away. JSngry Posted July 8 Report Posted July 8 Otoh, I recently sent a bigass Media Mail package to New Hampshire and it got there in about 48 hours. From Texas. Surprised the shit out of me but there it was, it happened, it really happened. Quote

I mailed the first package on a Wednesday and it arrived to its destination on Friday. My guess was that the Media Mail plane flies out of Texas on Wednesday evenings. From then on, I shipped all Media Mail on Wednesdays and each time the package arrived in 48 hours. Quote

Media Mail boxes get processed last. If they run out of time in the sorting/passing along process it sits until the next time. There ain't no plane flying media mail. Quote
jlhoots Posted July 8 Report Posted July 8 Media Mail from Squidco usually arrives in 2 - 3 days. Quote
