RogerF Posted March 13, 2015 Report Posted March 13, 2015 Sad news that Daevid Allen, co-founder of Soft Machine and instigator of the seemingly never-ending Gong, has passed away today at the age of 77. He was undoubtedly a exceptional musical innovator without whom the world would have been a poorer and more boring place. He will be greatly missed but his music, as they say, will live on. RIP Daevid. Quote

GA Russell Posted March 13, 2015 Report Posted March 13, 2015 RIP. I'll have to find my copy of Camembert Electrique. Quote
Steve Reynolds Posted March 13, 2015 Report Posted March 13, 2015 I recently read that he was suffering. The memories of discovering Flying Teapot, Angel's Egg and You back in ~ 1980 or so are priceless. And my favorite - the 1976 Live recording Vive le Gong - Gong est Mort - with some powerhouse performances of the true Gong classics I think I'm buying the farewell recording just because..... RIP to a true free spirit,,,, Quote
clifford_thornton Posted March 13, 2015 Report Posted March 13, 2015 Yeah, he was awesome. RIP. Quote
trane123 Posted March 17, 2015 Report Posted March 17, 2015 The Radio Gnome Trilogy was a high point (no pun intended). R.I.P. Quote

A Lark Ascending Posted August 29, 2016 Report Posted August 29, 2016 Remember seeing both with the 'You' era Gong on a double bill with Hatfield and the North in my university student union. Only seems like a few years back (actually around '74/'75). Quote
