GA Russell Posted March 6, 2015 Report Posted March 6, 2015 The headline says that Harrison Ford has been injured when his small plane crashed on a California golf course. The photo on the Drudge home page looks scary to me - but perhaps some of you with more knowledge about these things can better assess it. http://drudgereport.com/ Quote
GA Russell Posted March 6, 2015 Author Report Posted March 6, 2015 "serious but not life-threatening injuries" http://www.chicagotribune.com/entertainment/breaking/chi-harrison-ford-plane-crash-20150305-story.html#page=1 Quote
kinuta Posted March 6, 2015 Report Posted March 6, 2015 He's over seventy so even though his injuries are described as non life threatening, the recovery process will be long. I'm five years his junior but a mere double fractured wrist was a quite serious impediment for several months. I wish him all the best for a speedy return to health. Quote
AllenLowe Posted March 6, 2015 Report Posted March 6, 2015 at least he didn't stick his head in the propeller. Quote
BFrank Posted March 6, 2015 Report Posted March 6, 2015 I keep hearing conflicting reports about his status. Some say serious and others say 'banged up but OK'. One report said that he walked away from the crash. Quote
Shawn Posted March 6, 2015 Report Posted March 6, 2015 Authorities are saying Ford made the best possible choice of where to land the plane in his situation. In that vicinity the only options are the beach, crowded streets or the golf course. This is from the latest article I could find regarding his health (from the BBC). He was breathing and alert when medics arrived and took him to hospital in a "fair to moderate" condition, a fire department spokesman said. His son Ben, a chef in Los Angeles, later tweeted from the hospital: "Dad is OK. Battered but OK! His publicist said: "The injuries sustained are not life threatening, and he is expected to make a full recovery," Quote
JSngry Posted March 7, 2015 Report Posted March 7, 2015 Where was that Wookie guy, Ford's too old to be flying solo without a Wookie. Quote
page Posted March 7, 2015 Report Posted March 7, 2015 Well, he'll probably still is young in his mind. Tough to be to told you're too old to do something... Quote
Shawn Posted March 7, 2015 Report Posted March 7, 2015 I don't think his age had anything to do with it, the engine cut out, whether you're 22 or 72 you're going down.... Quote
page Posted March 7, 2015 Report Posted March 7, 2015 (edited) Well. somehow, that's good to know. Thanks, Shawn. Edited March 7, 2015 by page Quote

All men have had this problem at one time or another, you're right about that. When the engine cuts out, you go down - if you're smart about it. Quote

Tim McG Posted March 7, 2015 Report Posted March 7, 2015 (edited) Come to find out the PT-22 Trainer he was flying used to be flown on training missions for the Army out of my town during WWII. The name of the airfield and city are stenciled on the plane. Cool. Edited March 7, 2015 by TimMcG Quote
