Germany, yes, not Paris.

Wonder if he played organ at all in Paris, and if so, was Eddie Louis ever around to hear it...that would make for some interesting history, even if it never happened!

Good question. Louiss was seemingly influenced by LY, at least from my perspective on hearing his records.

I agree. Love the work Louiss did on the Stan Getz Dynasty session, as well as his own recordings from that era.

so who's that young Larry who once was in Paris anyway?

as for Louiss, don't forget these:

"Bohemia After Dark" is "Orgue Vol. 2", it was part of the original Jazz in Paris series, while "Orgue" was one of the new additions to the Jazz in Paris "Collector's Edition" (using original cover art, in many cases reissuing stuff again that was part of the original Jazz in Paris series ... more on all that in the ). And of the trio one, there's another version with different cover around, yellow/orange-ish with a photo of Louiss at the organ - here.

Just to make sure: these are additional recommendations to the aforementioned ones (two vols of HLP, being Humair/Louiss/Ponty; plus the double album with Getz). Not sure of the entire bunch which ones I love most, don't know the HLP ones that well yet, but the Trio one is incredible, that's for sure!

They're all wonderful.

Woody Shaw and Nathan Davis are on two of the four tracks on the ten inch record store day release. The other two tracks are trio cuts; Larry Young plays organ on three of the four tracks on the release (piano on one of the trio tracks), which has about 25 minutes of music.

The Getz--Gilberto '76 release is shorter (about 16 minutes), but quite gripping, really nice actually. I'll be picking up both of these on CD when they come out.

There are sound samples here:

http://www.propermusic.com/product-details/Larry-Young-Larry-Young-in-Paris-The-ORTF-Recordings-2CD-222699

and a review including this type of information here:

http://www.rte.ie/ten/reviews/music/2016/0118/761086-larry-young-in-paris/

Apparently, Young plays organ on the first nine of the ten tracks, with Jack Dieval added on piano on the last two tracks of Disc 1...

That's how it sounds on the clips.  Thanks for posting.

Very short review, but the picture is new (at least to me) -- and it expands to a huge format, with great detail.

http://www.theguardian.com/music/2016/jan/21/larry-young-in-paris-the-ortf-recordings-review-elegant-reckless-beauty-on-unearthed-60s-live-tapes

And then HERE's the most complete info yet that I've seen about the full release (about as complete as it gets)...

http://www.resonancerecords.org/release.php?cat=HCD-2022

Including the first time I've seen track-times listed, FWIW.  Over 100 min of music, by my count.

Track Listing
Disc One:
  • Trane of Thought (6:46)
  • Talkin About JC (14:53)
  • Mean To Me (4:12)
  • La Valse Grise (16:09)
  • Discothèque (10:43)
Disc Two:
  • Luny Tune (4:36)
  • Beyond All Limits (7:36)
  • Black Nile (13:59)
  • Zoltan (20:31)
  • Larrys Blues (6:13)

Given how much music they're going to have to have to stuff onto an LP side to get it all to fit, I would think that this is not one to opt for the vinyl edition. They'll have to roll off the bass to get ~26 minutes to fit on an LP side.
