Tom 1960
That's a valuable resource to have off the bench: a pitcher who can hit.Dodgers Giants should be exciting down the stretch because the loser is going home (unless Cubs collapse).Yup.It will be a great season if the Giants can boot the Dodgers from playoff contention. Looks like that could be a good possibility based on the way they're playing of late. Man, there bullpen sucks! The hitting isn't a whole lot better. That coming from a Dodger fan. Tim McG
Could be...the Giants play the Dodgers seven more times. Four games are in San Francisco and at the end of the season. There are currently four teams in MLB with 70+ wins, and three of them are in the N.L. Central. It's weird to see so few teams over 70 wins at this point, but even more odd for 75% of them to be in one division...Now that you mention it, it is pretty strange. No 100 game winners this year. 90 may be a struggle. Brad
Mets keep on truckin'. They must have thought they were still in Coors Field last night as they bashed the Phillies. If they keep it up, they will face Dodgers or Giants. They were 4-3 vs Dodgers and 3-3 vs Giants. Either will be fine.Thank goodness they don't have to face the NL Central in the first round: they were a combined 3-17 against them. The Royals would have to go 24-14 from this point, which isn't out of the question. Especially considering how relatively easy their remaining schedule is. Pirates could do it as well, and they have one more game to play than the Cards and Royals.

They need to get there first, which is by no means assured at this point. No doubt they are battle tested, which is why -- assuming Mets get there (who can forget 7 up with 17 to play in 2007) -- I would almost prefer the Dodgers. Either way, it doesn't matter. Scott Dolan
Once the Giants get into the playoffs...all bets are off. They know how to win.Just sayin'. And "knowing how to win" counts for more than most would give credit. The Giants actually remind me of the Cardinals in that they just quietly get the job done while seemingly nobody is paying attention. That said, if I were a NL team, I would at least be a little wary of the Mets. They are the NL version of the Astros...If it makes you feel any better, the Mets would be in fourth place in the NL Central. But fuck all of that! Go Giants!Go Royals!I want a rematch! Curt Schilling talk about baseball and leave his personal views out of it Freakin idiotYou know, I realize that rightwing fuck stepped in his own shit, and should pay the price for it. But, in all fairness, I actually understood what he was trying to get at...It was an incredibly dopey way to get his point across, though. I'm not sure we could expect any better from a Republican apologist...

Blew the game on Friday in the 7th and yesterday, before taking it back in the bottom of the 7th. They acquired the former Dbacks closer, Addison Reed, yesterday. Remains to see if he can do the job. If not, they will not go far in the playoffs.

Oh, and they're 5th in earned runs. You can rest easy when your pen is putting up those kinds of numbers.
