Scott Dolan Posted February 3, 2015 Report Posted February 3, 2015 Wow... Just got done listening to Detroit from the album, Grace. What a chilling and beautiful piece of music. Excellent program, Laz. Quote

Scott Dolan Posted February 3, 2015 Report Posted February 3, 2015 Did you and he get your issues worked out? Quote
AllenLowe Posted February 3, 2015 Report Posted February 3, 2015 yes, and we are going to record together again. Quote
Scott Dolan Posted February 3, 2015 Report Posted February 3, 2015 NICE! That is excellent news. Now, if we can just get Dennis Gonzalez and Ellery Eskelin to come to a similar understanding! Quote
AllenLowe Posted February 3, 2015 Report Posted February 3, 2015 didn't know there was a problem there. Quote
Scott Dolan Posted February 4, 2015 Report Posted February 4, 2015 I won't post details publicly, but Ellery and Dennis didn't see eye-to-eye musically. Nothing personal, just kind of a Miles and Sam Rivers kind of thing. Quote
Lazaro Vega Posted February 4, 2015 Author Report Posted February 4, 2015 Thanks Scott -- J.D. first came to my attention, after the Red Record, with a Muskegon, Michigan, native: Stacy Dillard. In 2004, Dillard sent me an album called "Elite State of Mind" where he and J.D. team up. Though he grew up in Detroit, J.D. wasn't able to get to Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp to study. He dropped a note saying hearing his music on Blue Lake's station the other night meant a lot to him. Quote
Scott Dolan Posted February 4, 2015 Report Posted February 4, 2015 Hey, that's awesome! Yeah, I downloaded Grace this morning, can't wait to sit down with it later this evening. Great show, and thanks for the link. Quote
