clifford_thornton Posted January 4, 2015 Report Posted January 4, 2015 The most money I spent on a CD was $50 for the original jewel case Japanese CD version of "distant voices" by Steve Lacy with Yuji Takahashi and Takehisa Kosugi. A few years later it was reissued on a Japanese mini-LP sleeve so I bought that reissue for $17 and sold my earlier version for around $50! As far as LPs...well I'm sad to say I've spent up to $500 *but* I've also sold a lot of albums for big profits which I use to justify my more expensive purchases! Yeah, I'm in a similar boat on both counts. Have spent around $40 for a couple of OOP single discs (usually far less) and up to $500 on an LP a couple of times but usually far less! Quote
Steve Reynolds Posted January 6, 2015 Report Posted January 6, 2015 Years ago I paid $25 for a few hard to find David Murray DIW CDs I think the duet with Milford and Death of a Sideman Quote
GA Russell Posted January 6, 2015 Report Posted January 6, 2015 (edited) My most expensive was the first CD I ever bought for myself. It was December of 1988, and it was a British CD of Manfred Mann Chapter III's first album. It cost $21.99. Edited January 6, 2015 by GA Russell Quote
xybert Posted January 6, 2015 Report Posted January 6, 2015 It happens very rarely but I've paid quite a bit for CDs before, off the top of my head up to at least 5x the cost of an average new release. Yeah it's a case by case thing for me, how much do i want it, how much do i have in the bank, is it a seller that i can be bothered dealing with (this can very often be a deal breaker) etc. To date when i've paid a lot it's always been for new and sealed.
