JohnS Posted December 30, 2014 Report Posted December 30, 2014 I'll own up to not being too sniffy about these sets. I have two or three including the Land, listening to The Fox (IIRC) on that set is painful. Quote
crisp Posted December 30, 2014 Report Posted December 30, 2014 The future is in high-res streaming. That's what they tell me in the local hifi shop. Yes, but will that include the kind of music we like or just X Factor and rock/pop reissues? Or a poorly presented mishmash like Spotify? If it went beyond even what companies like Mosaic could offer I'd be enthusiastic, but until then I'll stick with my existing collection. Quote

I'd bet on this version of the future too. Me too. Except, I read that sales of cylinder discs are up by 37% this year... Maybe people are coming to their senses. Quote

duaneiac Posted December 30, 2014 Report Posted December 30, 2014 Huh! i thought I read somewhere that the next big thing in home audio would be owning/leasing your own personal minstrel(s) for the ultimate in hi-fidelity (and hi-chastity) entertainment. Quote
mjazzg Posted December 30, 2014 Report Posted December 30, 2014 public domain minstrels.....been around a while in Europe you know Quote
JSngry Posted December 30, 2014 Report Posted December 30, 2014 I'll be perhaps necessarily more interested in keeping it living than keeping it live, perchance methinks. Quote
colinmce Posted December 30, 2014 Report Posted December 30, 2014 I cop to having the Lou Donaldson as I like his 50s stuff but surely not enough to shell out for the Mosaic, which is the only source for most of these records. I would not consider another one of these as the packaging is pathetic and the ethical implications are manifold. Quote
