Brad
My son has an iPod full of songs from someone else's iTunes. He's afraid to add new songs from a different computer as he's afraid all the songs will be wiped out. Is there a way he can download the songs from his iPod to a computer? Thanks in advance. Noj
I use a program called iPod Access to download from my iPods. Costs about $20. However, if the files are Apple "purchased AAC" or even worse "protected AAC" files he'll need his friend's password to play them on iTunes, and that will only work if his friend hasn't maxed out the number of computers authorized to play the tracks. He'll want to make sure his iTunes is set to manually add tracks to iPod and NOT to autosync the iTunes library.
A Lark Ascending
I've used a couple of programmes for this. The one I've been using since last spring called Touchcopy is excellent: http://www.wideanglesoftware.com/touchcopy/?gclid=Cj0KEQiAq_SkBRC3jLvJ1IPt2eIBEiQASUZy1x1vBxhohiBUQmd0giKLG6n2kO3NGjCHZxQt4oTY54IaAvz98P8HAQ It cost me £16 online but has been perfect for backing up my iPods. Well worth the cost. One reason this is better than the thing I used to use is that every time you connect it to the IPOD you can get it to sort tracks in time order and it indicates what has already been saved. I tend to do a back up every couple of months. This is what the screen looks like on your PC, showing what is on your IPOD: Edited December 26, 2014 by A Lark Ascending
sidewinder
Thanks for the information on the Touchcopy software. Will give it a go, have been looking for something to rebuild my iTunes library for a while. Edited December 26, 2014 by sidewinder
Jim R
I use a program called iPod Access to download from my iPods. Costs about $20. I used Senuti (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Senuti) to restore music to iTunes after our 2011 iMac hard drive crash, and found it very easy to use. It costs about the same. As I understand it, there's a free trial version still available.
