mikeweil Posted April 14, 2019 Report Posted April 14, 2019 Could that be the Phil Moore who played piano in Gerald Wilson`s Orchestra in the 1960*s? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phil_Moore_(jazz_musician) Quote

JSngry Posted April 15, 2019 Author Report Posted April 15, 2019 https://www.historylink.org/File/20350 Along the way, the once-divorced Moore remarried and he and his new wife Jeanne George had a daughter, Joanna Moore, and eventually a couple of grandchildren. Meanwhile, Moore's namesake son carved out his own music career -- as Phil Moore Jr., playing piano with the likes of the Gerald Wilson Orchestra in 1965 and recording his own solo LP for Atlantic Records in 1969. This seems to be the same guy as Phil Moore III...go figure that one? Quote
mikeweil Posted April 15, 2019 Report Posted April 15, 2019 (edited) Thanks Jim - I saw no reason to doubt there was some connection, given the Californian context, and as the younger Moore was listed as Phil Moore III somewhere in the Wilson context. Edited April 15, 2019 by mikeweil Quote
Teasing the Korean Posted January 23, 2022 Report Posted January 23, 2022 By the way, some of the tracks from the Phil Moore album have appeared on the Lux and Ivy exotica compilations on Righteous. Quote

One time in the middle of her feature, Spike sprayed her in the middle of her back with a seltzer bottle and she chased him into the audience. The crowd roared, thinking it was part of the script, though it wasn’t. Quote
JSngry Posted January 23, 2022 Author Report Posted January 23, 2022 Spike Jones must have had a connection at Verve. Any idea who it was? Quote

No idea, though I may have to get out the bio of him that I bought in the 1970s or 1980s. As far as I can tell, Helen Grayco could still be alive, thought she would be up there in years. I am not sure what year she was born He did that Christmas LP for Verve. Quote
